Man, what a busy week... Getting ready for Russia, studying, my mum having an accident and consequently buying a new car, meeting people for drinks as a last good-bye, going to Antwerp and meeting a girl who's been at the University of Moscow, getting my visum and, most important of all, partying and getting pissed!

A little explanation, maybe...

I'll skip all the boring stuff, such as the arrangements for Moscow and studying, and go straight to the horrible part. Imagine getting a phone call from your mother, saying she just had an accident and 3 cars were involved. What do you do? Continue studying? Hell no, being a dream of a daughter I went up there to support mummy. What a mess, this was the end of our beloved purple old timer. God bless him, Amen! Fortunately, no one was hurt so nothing else to do than staying positive. And my mother did get that message; only two days later she bought herself a new car. A really nice one too, only, we'll have to get used to the fact that people won't recognise us anymore. Having a purple Bolhoedje means standing out, you see. But I am very happy for her, it's nice to see her smiling again!

On Thursday I went to Antwerp to do my exams and hopefully get that distinction. Cross those fingers... In the evening we met Sarrah, a former HIVT-er went to study in Moscow last year. I'm glad I got to talk to her, she really eased my mind. I'm very confident now, I'm going to do just fine over there and half a year will fly by without me noticing.

On Friday I went to get my visa and man, those Russians are so greedy! They asked €20 for stamping my doctor's appoval to take my medicines with me. What's that all about? People have to pay for being epileptic?

And then the evening came... Us girls met at the pub and went to an open-air party (see photos). Lots of dancing and drinking involved. Wow...I was irresponsibly pissed. Good way of saying goodbye to my party mates and the Belgian beer. It was really nice to see all those people again, who I haven't seen in months. Before I knew we were kicked out, probably because it was already 4 am. Hmmm...time flies by when your having funa nd being drunk. So we decided to continue our party outside for a little while. Trying to get home was another challenge, because someone broke my precious bike. Well, I got home eventually, not sure what the time was...

Today??? My temporarily last Belgiam hangover. And believe me, it is a proper one...

Russian stress & Belgian booze

Главное здание МГУ
I must say, I do like my future home! This huge building is the main department of the University of Moscow, where I'll stay for half a year.
No, no way back now. I went to the Russian embassy on Friday and ordered my visa, after having to pay €242 for an insurrance. What???!!!
In the evening we had a very nice family dinner. Lots of drink, food triplets and a waiter seducing my mother... What's that all about????
A few days earlier, on Tuesday, I finally made up for a few weeks of non-drunken nights. Oh how I love the Belgian Jupkes! What time did I get home? Well...at noon the next day. ;-)
This weekend I'm going dancing on the market place in Geel. My beloved metropolis is organising the so-called EuroFeesten, with lots of national and international stars.
Long live Yellow Town!

Goodbyes make me sick!

Right, I guess I owe you an update on last week's partying.

The girl's night on Thursday was very interesting. It is amazing how food and drinks can spice up a story. Of course I cannot share all the details, but I can assure you...you'd love to know what comes out of the mouth of a Malibu-drinking married lady and a Vodka-drinking single girl. Sorry, did that make you curious?

On Friday, after work, the pool was waiting for us. Lotte didn't have to think about it for 1 second; she got in to her wet suit and went in. I myself was a little reluctant and decided to not go in as it was rather chilly. So, the poolpartiers arrived and we had a very nice barbie (many thanks to the chef). Afterwards we went in for a game of pool. (Well done partner and official friend, for losing :-) ). It was very nice, we had a great laugh, till the moment of saying goodbye. God, how I hate that. I had such a good time, everyone has been so nice and fun. I'll certainly miss them all BUT I'll see them in Mosco for New Year and I'll certainly be back! Oh yes, a bit of explanation here: When I left the office (Take care over there, thanks for everything) on Friday, my boss offered me a job. He said I could always come back to work for him, whenever I'd want to. Interesting...

And then it was Saturday. To comfort myself a little, I went to the gym for 1 last time (I know..but I just couldn't resist it). We were supposed to be on the ferry at 4.00 pm. But Stu decided that would be too easy. So after half an hour, he (with a big smile on his face) informed us on the fact that he forgot his passport. So back we went. No worries...it was rather funny and it meant that I got to stay in England 2 hours longer. Hurray for Stu! Bu then it got even more exciting: his passport was ruined; his picture was almost falling off. He could have been a suicide bomber, trying to get in to our beloved Belgium. Fortunately, he looks like a little angel and he was thus allowed on the boat. No idea how he'll get back into the country though...

On Sunday I saw my family and friends again, which was really nice. But all of the sudden I started feeling a bit ill. I had a major headache and stumachache. And I woke up with it this morning as well. I don't know what it is, I suppose goodbyes just make me sick...

Partying, Partying, Partying

My English fitness career is over :-(. Yesterday I went for my last gym visit and I must say, I was very sad when I left (although I was offered a ride home on a motor bike, which I kindly refused, but it did cheer me up a little as I felt kind of special...). I am really going to miss all the sweating, the macho men and the naked Barbie dolls. No, I really enjoyed working out, having some time for myself, relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna... And not to forget, my interesting sauna conversations.
Snif snif. Time to say farewell and get over it, I suppose.

Lady's night is coming up! This evening all the girls from work are gathering for a night full of food, "drinks", cheesy films and gossip. Nice nice. We have already informed our boss on the fact that we'll be late on Friday and we probably won't be able to sit up straight and thus work. He didn't really say anything to that, he just smiled, so I guess it's allright...

On Friday: more partying!!! This time at D's. He is organising a major pool party at his parent's villa. I thought I might just come to work in my bikinis (as chances are great I won't be able to dress myself properly on Friday) so that I can jump in the pool right after work. Love the idea!

And then on Saturday I return to Yellow town. I can't believe how fast time passed by. I've already been in England for 5 weeks now. Man... I am going to miss it, I mean really really miss it. I loved the company, the experience of work, everything we did. Thanks everyone, for everything! I'll miss you all!

Enough of the sentimental crap... My mum said I am welcome on Saturday, what I thought was really nice of her considering I can sometimes be a hell of a daughter (Mum, you don't have to confirm this; I know you love me just the way I am ;-) ). And it all of the sudden struck me; I'll only be home for 2 weeks and then I'll be gone for 5 months and 8 days. Oh my God???!!! What am I doing???!!!

Anyway, I hereby invite everyone to come and celibrate New Year in Moscow. Only 1 condition: I want Belgian, Flemmish and British flags (and AD in a kilt!).

I'm off, my parties are calling.

Party night, we'll come together when the feeling's right... (Oh and it is!)

Lazy, lazy, lazy...

Last week wasn't all that exciting. I went to work, went to the gym (I did have a nice little talk in the sauna, but I'll keep the details for myself and trust on your imagination), and all the usual...

On Friday we all went to Dan's palace and ordered Chinese and curries. It was really nice, we drank some beers, watched Big Brother (or just Ziggy), and ended up talking about babies (a very popular subject at the moment).

On Saturday Lotte's cousin arrived and we went to the mall (no shit!), drank a frappuccino in the sunshine and had a picnick in the garden. All of the sudden Lotte came up with this extremely exciting idea to cut down a small tree (approx. 6 meters, that is). So the guys started climbing in the tree and believe it or not...they did it! Amazing! Respect!

In the evening we were supposed to go clubbing in Brighton but ended up salsaying (consider it a new verb) in a Cuban bar.

On Sunday we had to find a way to remove that small tree from the garden. So we started filling up bins and dragging those really small branches up the stairs. (Did I mention it was approx. 30 degrees and I almost changed into a "Moelatje"?) We then brought the small tree to Stu's parents, where we had a lovely BBQ. Thanks guys!

Today, Monday, back to work...
